Lady Anhedonia

Lady Anhedonia and I went on a quiet walk today..
Quietly the sun set, as did my spirits
The gloom and chatter of the city mingled with my own..

A biting cold enveloped the city..
Lady Anhedonia, with warm eyes and a blank heart-offered me her black overcoat.
But I said no-"Today, I ought to feel the cold."

The lady and I thus walked-each with tales absurd and dark
The lady grew guilty; and once again offered me her dark embrace..
But I said no-"For once, I ought to feel the cold.."

A Slate Stretching to Heaven..

I'd ask you to hold me tonight for I feel far too numb..
And I'd ask for a slate stretching to heaven.
I've never been too fond of the shape of things on earth,
Never been too proud of the shape I've thus assumed..

Given a slate stretching to heaven, I'd start a brand new world..

I'd ask you to move me tonight for I feel far too numb..
And I'd ask for a canvas stretching the ocean..
I've never quite tasted the colors that abound the earth,
Never been too stunned, too moved; only too numb..

Given a canvas stretching the ocean, I'd paint a brand new world..

I'd ask you to hold me tonight, for I feel far too cold..
And I'd ask for a boulder stretching the skies..
I've never felt too strong for the way of things on earth,
My senses blunt, my eyes and ears bereft of wonder for all they're worth..

Given a boulder stretching the skies, I'd carve a brand new world..

Given a slate stretching to heaven, I'd start a brand new world..
